Adeva is a songstress, who became hugely popular on the House Music Scene in the late Eighties/Early Nineties. Born in Paterson, New Jersey, Adeva is the youngest of six siblings.

Adeva was a member, director and vocal coach, of her local church choir. She was also a school teacher for a while. Her strong vocal style led her to enter several local talent contests, most of which she won, with the result that it became harder for her to find further local competitions to enter!

She began seriously recording during 1986 -1987, with the release of the single 'In and Out of My Life' on Easy Street Records. She switched imprints, moving to Cooltempo Records during 1988. At Cooltempo she released a House Music interpretation of the Otis Redding song 'Respect' in 1989, which reached number 17 in the U.K.

Her debut album followed the same year, which saw a release in the United States in 1990 through Capitol/EMI Records. The album was released on Chrysalis Records in the UK, reaching number 6 on the U.K. Albums Chart.

Various tracks from the album saw remixes by the likes of Frankie Knuckles, including 'Beautiful Love', 'I Thank You' (which also reached number 17) and 'Musical Freedom'. In 1991, she released her follow up album, entitled 'Love Or Lust?', which featured the popular dancers 'Independent Woman' and 'It Should Have Been Me'.

Adeva departed the Cooltempo imprint in 1992. Three years later, she collaborated again with Frankie Knuckles in 1995, releasing the album 'Welcome to the Real World'.

Adeva later worked with Frankie again on his 'Knuckles' LP, which included a single, 'Hyper Go Go' in 1996. She continues to be a highly regarded vocalist on both the New York and the U.K. house-music scenes.
