Danzel, born november 9th 1976 as Johan Waem, started singing at a very young age.
In his home country Belgium he was the lead singer of a band called “Scherp Op Snee”, but next to that he was also a talented musician who played bass, guitar and piano, so it didn't take long for him to become a singer-songwriter, mainly in the rock circuit.
In 2004, after he became one of the 20 finalists in IDOLS, the recordlabel N.E.W.S. Approached him for a remake of the Black and White Brothers' classic “Pump it up”.
No need to say that his remake became a world hit, and was signed by all major labels in the world, exceeding sales of over 4.000.000 copies worldwide!!
Pump it up became a cult classic over the years, but surely you'll remember the other big hits that Danzel provided us during the following 15 years: Pur your hands up in the air, You are all of that, My arms keep missing you (With Dj F.R.A.N.K), You spin me round, etc...
He got awarded in several countries with top 10 hits, numerous golden records for the sales of albums, an Eska Award in Poland, an MTV Award in Russia and so on...
Still touring the world today, mainly in Eastern Europe, he has done an enormous amount of shows worldwide, and promotors keep asking him back since they call his performances: “one bolt of energy”.
Even today, he is still releasing tracks with different producers.
