Ashley Thomas aka Bashy epitomises the underdog. His impressive CV to date includes; conscious anthem Black Boys, MOBO Award nominated album “Catch Me If You Can” and World Tour with International band, Gorillaz. He has since added 8 feature film roles to his repertoire.
Prior to his album, Bashy worked with grit flick pioneer Noel Clarke who got in touch after listening to Chuppa Chups – which is littered with samples from his film Kidulthood. Instead of filing a lawsuit he offered him a job as music supervisor on sequel Adulthood and the opportunity to make the title track Kidulthood to Adulthood.
Known as Ashley Thomas when acting, Bashy signed to leading acting agency Independent Talent and has starred in the likes of; Black Mirror, a Channel 4 Drama, 3 feature film releases, including a lead role alongside legendary Bafta nominated actor Peter Mullan, David Harewood & Michelle Ryan in the boxing Drama, “The Man Inside” and most recently a leading role alongside Ashley Walters and Kano in Chanel 4’s much talked about ‘Top Boy’.
2013 will see Bashy’s focus return to his solo music and pick up on his already amassed 10 million+ views. One of the UK’s most celebrated rappers, without the backing of a major label will once again embark on his independent journey.
His new single ‘These Are The Songs’ is to be released on September 8th, the first cut from his much anticipated forthcoming EP.
