Angel Johnson

Angel Johnson began her DJ career way back in 1991, a veteran of her trade and a pioneer in helping to break the stereotype of what was once considered a uniquely male vocation.

Angel had been a regular clubber on the underground dance scene for many years and was the proverbial club diva. She decided she fancied a shot on the other side of the decks and delivered her first mix tape to renowned club promoter James Baillie. On the strength of that mix he booked her to play at the infamous Venus on New Years Eve 1991 and the rest, as they say, is history.

Angel says that things have gone full circle with regards to the quality, vibe and energy of the music as she now finds herself playing the same breed of Deep House and Nu Disco that first attracted her to the scene all those years ago.

It's hard to list all the achievements of someone with more than twenty years in the business but playing at legendary clubs like Venus, the Hacienda, The Ministry Of Sound, Pacha Ibiza, the Gallery, the Cross, the Chuff Chuff parties... to name but a few rank highly in Angel’s repertoire. Angel has travelled the world delivering her gospel of quality House music, playing in countries like China, Brazil, India, Canada and Russia and has always been a firm favourite on the European circuit.

As well as being a respected old skool DJ, Angel has more than forty releases under her belt. She has produced music for Vendetta, Groovebox and Diamondhouse records and also more predominantly writes and produces music under her artist moniker Venus In Motion.

Her debut album Walking in Limbo was released in 2007 on Spain’s largest independent record label Blanco y Negro. The Reach EP was released 2011 on German imprint Bloodsugar records and her second album Somebody’s Heaven is due for release on Seamless recordings in March 2013.

In contrast to Angel's house productions Venus In Motion is an eclectic mix inspired by jazz, soul, folk and dub which embodies both an electronic and an organic vibe. Venus In Motion can frequently be heard drifting out of the worlds coolest lounge bars and sunset strip cafes, tracks are readily available on the top selling chill out compilations and regularly play-listed on Radio Stations like Ibiza Sonica Radio
